Chelsea striker Timo Werner is in ‘regular contact’ with Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann after their time together at RB Leipzig.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say there is a 70% chance that the German could end up at Bayern Munich in future.
The website reports that Werner is currently ‘blossoming’ under new German coach Hansi Flick with two goals in two games, a far cry from the ‘reservist’ role he plays at Chelsea.
If that situation doesn’t change, a move away from Stamford Bridge is ‘not out of the question’, and there is a chance that Bayern could come calling if it happens.
Furthermore, Nagelsmann also knows Werner from their time together at Leipzig and, crucially, how to use him ‘efficiently’.
The two are in ‘regular contact’, and according to Sport 1’s information, Werner’s name has already been discussed internally at the German champions.
A big problem is the striker’s wages of €15m a year, which is considered an ‘XXL contract’ as far as Bayern are concerned.
However, if they don’t get Erling Haaland next summer, which they say is to be ‘assumed’, and Robert Lewandowski does not extend his contract, which is ‘possible’, then Werner is the ‘top candidate’ at the club.
Sport 1 give the transfer a 70% chance of happening, though, so it’s one for Chelsea fans to certainly keep an eye on moving forwards.
