Following the European Super League failure, most stories we now see about Real Madrid’s efforts to make money are related to the fact the club will no longer get the fortune associated with the tournament.
Now a story from El Confidencial claims club president Florentino Perez has a new plan to increase their revenue, and that’s to host NFL games at the new Santiago Bernabéu.
With Real Madrid currently working on a huge rebuild on their stadium, the idea is to repeat what Tottenham Hotspur did with their new stadium.
A couple of NFL games have already been played in London, with the Atlanta Falcons also announcing a match there in 2021, and Spurs’ plans are mentioned by El Confidencial many times as a case of success.
El Confidencial recalls that in a NFL meeting last year, it had been decided that each franchise would need to play at least one game outside the United States.
So instead of competing with Tottenham Hotspur to host sporadic NFL games, Real Madrid would actually be one more club to receive those matches abroad.
