Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti has told the Italian media he expects to see out the season with the Serie B club. The 23-year old’s contract expires in the summer, and the player has been linked with a move to Leeds United.
“I always try to look at every game. And if I sign or not it does not matter. What matters are the points. I’m happy how things are going for me. I’m even more comfortable with the team and have some plus points. I have a contract until June,” said the Ternana star when asked about leaving in January.
With Avenatti’s contract expiring in just over six months Ternana risk losing the player on a free transfer at the end of the season. The South American has admitted in recent weeks he’s yet to sit down and speak to Ternana about his contract renewal, which will put the likes of Leeds United and Serie A clubs on alert.
Avenatti was linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer, with claims they made an approach for the attacker. With the uncertainty over the Avenatti’s future at Teranna the Championship side could take advantage, and speak to the player about a pre-contract agreement in January.
As for Avenatti saying “And if I sign or not it does not matter,” – it will surely matter to Ternana, who would rather receive a transfer fee than not.
