Not that long ago, a very bold claim came from Italy regarding the process to define who would replace Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.
The choice was ultimately Thomas Tuchel, but Italian journalist Ciro Venerato claimed Marina Granovskaia originally wanted to try and bring Maurizio Sarri back to the club.
However, the decision was reportedly vetoed by Roman Abramovich, who made it clear he didn’t want the former Napoli man back, thus why the club turned their attention to their current German boss.
That makes some sense, especially when you consider the rather expensive break up between the London club and Antonio Conte prior to Sarri’s arrival.
Either way, it seems the Russian oligarch is done with a certain nationality when it comes to managing his club, perhaps kickstarting a new German revolution for years to come.
