Coritiba have now confirmed they’re having a hard time signing Marlos Moreno from Manchester City this summer.
Speaking to the local press, they admitted there’s financial issues for them to bring the Colombian to Brazil.
Director of Football Paulo Pelaipe spoke to Radio Banda B at the weekend, claiming they’d need ‘big financial engineering’ so the club could afford the winger’s salary.
“We don’t give up. We have the international transfer window, which starts in October, and let’s see if we can do it, because we believe he’d help us a lot here at Coritiba,” said the official (via Globo Esporte).
Website Globo Esporte also writes that Manchester City’s plans for the player aren’t very clear. Since his contract at the club expires next summer, loaning him out now without a renewal would mean they’re losing him for free next year.
Marlos Moreno joined Manchester City in a move from Atletico Nacional back in 2016. He never had a chance to play for the Premier League club, and he’s had loans at Deportivo La Coruña, Girona, Flamengo, Santos Laguna and Portimonense.
