Rodrigo De Paul to Leeds United burned brightly for a short period of time and then largely slipped out of the Italian sport media.

There were claims right from the outset that Udinese would demand a big fee, and that De Paul had ambitions higher than Elland Road.

It would appear that’s still the case, at least for now.

La Nazione takes a look at the situation in their Monday edition. Fiorentina have also been linked with the Udinese player, so the Tuscany newspaper is assessing the competition.

De Paul, as far as La Nazione has it, is ‘not particularly happy’ with Leeds United as a destination, and he feels the same negative way about Russia’s Zenit.

Fiorentina and Napoli are keen, but neither can pay the €35m which Udinese continue to insist upon. The Pozzo family don’t want to give out ‘special discounts’, and clearly aren’t desperate to part ways with De Paul.

Juventus remains a more distant option, but it’s been stated repeatedly a move there would be the one which the player most desires.
