No matter how many goals he scores for Everton or Belgium, there’s always someone somewhere who will find a way to criticise Romelu Lukaku for some aspect of his game.
Scoring seven goals in his last seven games for the Premier League side, the young Belgian is one of the more consistent strikers in England right now, and his compatriot Nacer Chadli really doesn’t understand the criticism from fans, especially those supporting the national team.
He said: “Of course not. He apparently doesn’t have a first touch, he apparently doesn’t know how to score etc… The guy has scored 150 goals by the age of 22, and people still dare to criticise him.
“I get that some people on TV are paid to criticise, but when you’re not being paid to do it, what’s the point of criticising, booing? Some people manage to criticise Messi. What can you do…”
Having turned 23 in May, Lukaku has scored 67 goals and assisted his teammates 31 times in 158 Premier League appearances so far in his career, totalling 133 goals and 53 assists in 297 club appearances (including Chelsea’s U23s).
Not bad for someone who ‘doesn’t have a first touch’.
He’s got at least 10 years left in him, as well.
