Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers started his coaching career at Chelsea’s academy in 2004.

During his time with the Blues, he trained several youngsters who have gone on to become first team players at different clubs.

One such player is Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand, who came up through the ranks of the west London club’s youth system.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the former Liverpool boss considers the Saints defender as a ‘hot name’ to become Ben Chilwell’s successor at King Power.

Chilwell is attracting interest from Chelsea and Manchester City and there’s a possibility the 23-year-old will be sold this summer.

Bertrand could be a ‘great opportunity for many’ in the transfer market because his contract at St Mary’s expires in 2021. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side have made a renewal offer, but there’s no update whether or not the left-back is willing to sign an extension.

TMW add AC Milan are also looking at the Southampton fullback, and that’s where the Italian website’s interest comes from.

Ralf Rangnick is expected to be appointed as the Serie A club’s new coach, and he and former Southampton director Paul Mitchell wanted to sign the 30-year-old for RB Leipzig.

Having failed to sign Bertrand for the Bundesliga side, Rangnick is hoping to bring the right-back to the San Siro, if he joins Milan.

Leicester are set to face competition from Milan for Bertrand and the former would only consider making an approach if Chilwell is sold this summer.
