Manchester United are interested in a move for Altinordu defender Ravil Tagir, who could be available for €2m this summer.
That’s according to Il Bianconero, who report that United could compete with Juventus for the 17-year-old, who has been described as the ‘new Demiral’.
The website reports that Juve have become interested in the centre back, having identified him as a star for the future and are ready to ‘give him the keys’ to the defence in their U23 side.
Numerous other clubs around Europe are all keen on him, though, having watched him shine for the Turkish second division side this season and already step up to the Turkey U21 setup.
Among that group of suitors are Manchester United, who ‘seemed to have conquered a privileged position’ in the race for the young defender in recent months according to the website.
It’s not the first time they’ve been linked either as we covered reports back in September that they were interested.
They came from Turkey, but there’s nothing new on their interest from there, so this latest report of their interest and them being at the front of the queue must be coming from Juventus’ end.
The real interesting part is the €2m asking price. In the original reports in Turkey, it was made clear that as Tagir hadn’t signed a new deal and Altinordu could lose him on the cheap come the summer.
There was no price mentioned at the time, but Transfermarkt now say his deal expires in 2022, indicating that the cheap option is now off the table for Manchester United and his other suitors.
Whether they’d be willing to pay €2m remains to be seen, but if Tagir is as highly rated as he appears to be, it may prove to be excellent value down the line.
