Despite once having high hopes for Jonathan De Bie, it seems Tottenham are now ready to part ways with the young goalkeeper.
The 19-year-old, who has represented Spurs in the Youth League a number of times, will see his contract in north London come to an end in June (or whenever the governing bodies extend them to), which will allow him to freely choose a new club.
Well, according to Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium, the youngster could return to his home country, with both Anderlecht and KV Mechelen keeping an eye on his situation.
It’s stated De Bie, wherever he goes, would like to be a backup, clearly aware he still needs to improve before demanding a starting role, and both clubs would certainly be a step in the right direction for him, especially if he integrates the first-team.
It was reported back in January that De Bie was already having trials with other teams, as the same Het Nieuwsblad explained he spent some time with KAA Gent, taking part in their training sessions.
It appears nothing came of it, but he clearly has an idea of what country he’d like to go to next.
