At this time of year, transfer vultures start circling around Premier League clubs who look they could be facing the drop to the Championship.
Despite the Covid-19 crisis, it’s no different this time around, and it’s Aston Villa and Norwich City players getting much of the attention.
Several of Aston Villa’s team have been linked with loan moves to Turkey at the end of the season, and Turkish clubs have a record of trying for such deals with sides relegated from England’s top flight.
For Norwich City, it’s not quite as concrete as claims of talks, and Spain’s Fichajes simply present Emi Buendia as an option for Atletico Madrid.
They explain why, and part of that is the ‘almost certain’ relegation of Norwich City, with the club currently six points adrift from salvation.
It’s thought Buendia would be a good long term signing for Diego Simeone’s side, and with his value estimated at €17m, the Norwich player is seen as a ‘sensational market opportunity’ for Atletico.
There’s no claims of Atleti taking this idea on, but it’s a warning to the Canaries, that with the fear of the drop… the transfer vultures start circling.
