AEK striker Nelson Oliveira has spoken to the Greek press about his failed transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Towards the end of the transfer window there were reports in the Greek media that Wolves were interested in signing the Portuguese striker.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side decided not to match AEK’s demands for the player after reports he had a €6m buyout clause, and he ended up staying where he was.
Since his move to the Greek Super League last summer the forward has impressed, and has become a key player for AEK, leading to interest from other clubs.
Speaking about Wolves interest to SDNA, the former Norwich City striker said he now needs to move on and focus on his current club: “There were a lot of things written but what I can say at the moment is that I’m very happy here. My wife also feels the same. Wolves’ interest is a thing of the past for me right now. I’m only focused on AEK now.”
Last month the Premier League club were looking for alternatives to Raul Jimenez, and Oliveira was reportedly one of their targets.
The Mexican has already played over 40 games this season, and with Patrick Cutrone’s exit he probably needs a reliable back-up.
