Burnley striker Matej Vydra is one of three potential targets for Lokomotiv Moscow as they look to add a striker to their squad.
The Russian side are on the hunt for a new forward after letting Fedor Smolov join Spanish side Celta Vigo last week.
They have drawn up a three-man list of potential replacements for him, according to Sport 24, and Vydra is among them.
The Czech Republic forward joined the Clarets in a £10m deal from Derby County in August 2018 but has struggled to impress at the club, with just two goals in 26 games to date.
“There is interest for Matej from two Moscow clubs,” he told the outlet.
“Can he move there? Of course, it’s a possibility. If one of the interested parties reach an agreement with Burnley, then he will come to Russia because he wants to show his qualities.
“The only issue at the moment is that Burnley are short of strikers. If that wasn’t the case, they were willing to let him leave.”
That interest may become more robust in the coming weeks, with Sport 24 now reporting that he is on Lokomotiv’s three-man shortlist.
According to the website, the club’s scouting department had an initial eight-man shortlist to replace Smolov, which has now been whittled down to three.
The Burnley striker is on this list, alongside Everton’s Oumar Niasse and another unnamed forward. However, reports have suggested the Everton striker has already turned down the chance.
Lokomotiv’s transfer committee will meet when the team returns from Qatar, with the club’s leadership set to ask the coaching staff to choose a final target so they can get the player into the club before their training camp begins on February 16th.
