It didn’t take long, but Gazzetta dello Sport believe Ashley Young to Inter is still on the agenda, despite them saying things had slowed down considerably on Wednesday.
The reason for that was the deal taking Matteo Politano to Roma with Leonardo Spinazzola going the other way to San Siro, but despite this transfer, which looks close to being completed, the Serie A side aren’t giving up on the Manchester United defender.
According to Gazzetta, Young hasn’t been ‘abandoned’ and remains a ‘hot track’ for Inter, as he fits what Antonio Conte was looking for for his defence: international experience, physical strength, leadership and the ability to play on either side without his performance being affected.
It’s said that ‘contacts never stopped’, and Wednesday saw the Englishman’s agent ‘receive reassurances and invited to be ready to define the operation’.

The contract of €3m/season for the next 18 months has long-been agreed, and the big hurdle remains convincing Manchester United to let him go without a compensation.
That’s certainly good news for Young, but perhaps not for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who doesn’t seem too keen on losing the veteran with all the injuries in his squad these days.
