It’s all about the kids in football these days and starting their development as early as possible is vitally important for the top teams.

The Ibiza International Football Friends Cup is one such tournament, and it appears Everton and Liverpool have joined the numerous clubs around Europe sending their young kids to it.

Periódico de Ibiza explain that the tournament, which runs from the 7th April to the 12th April, will see 550 games between seven categories, with 20 teams in each.

These are then split into four groups of five teams each to ensure that all participants can play at least four matches.

More than 2,200 young players will participate in the whole thing, with practically every football field on the island being used.

Everton and Liverpool have signed up their ‘junior’ teams to take part, although what age group that is isn’t clear.

The boys aren’t the only ones travelling, though, with the female youth teams also participating alongside the likes of Atlético Madrid, Juventus and PSG.

Interestingly, Periódico name them as the only two Premier League clubs who will be multiple sending teams to take part, with Leicester City sending just one in the ‘juvenile’ category.

At the minute, negotiations are being finalised for the event, with the hope that as many Ibizan teams as possible will sign up and take part.

The deadline is 8th December, when Everton and Liverpool are likely to find out who they will be coming up against.
