Manchester City signed Yangel Herrera from Atlético Venezuela in January 2017 and then immediately sent him out on loan to New York City FC.

Six months later, the midfielder captained Venezuela at the U20 World Cup in South Korea, which they lost to England in the final.

Having impressed for the Major League Soccer side under Patrick Vieira’s guidance, the Premier League winners loaned out the 21-year-old to Eibar for the 2018/19 season.

In the summer, Granada took him on a temporary deal for this term and as part of the deal they have a purchase option to make the South American’s transfer permanent next summer.

Spanish newspaper AS sat down for an interview with Herrera and asked about his plans for the future beyond this campaign.

He said, “My goal is to be able to make a great campaign here, in Granada, and leave the team at the top. Then we’ll see.”

“Let’s see if I have the opportunity to go to Manchester City or stay here at Granada, that will be seen at the end of the season. I am very comfortable here, but until the end of the season …”

The City loanee also admitted he was left impressed after having an opportunity to train under Pep Guardiola during preseason.

“It was an incredible experience to train with Guardiola, be with coaches and people of that stature, players of that talent and who are world class. It was a great experience for me to share that with them,” Herrera explained.
