After Manchester United’s match against Feyenoord on Thursday night, Paul Scholes said Manchester United should go after Luka Modric or Toni Kroos to partner Paul Pogba in midfield, suggesting that one of the transfers, and perhaps either, would be very much possible.
Marca went very brief on it, and AS used Scholes’ comments as an excuse to look at Manchester United’s bump in the road recently, and explain that despite the huge spending, Mourinho hasn’t yet managed to get his team sorted out, and they’ve failed their first two big tests.
On the subject of Scholes’ idea, the prospect of signing Modric especially looks bleak.
The Croatian is rated hugely in Madrid, earlier this when Marca were explaining El Clasico is better than the Manchester derby, they said: ‘because Pogba is not Modric and Silva is not Messi’
Therefore the idea of Modric being seen as some kind of potential Pogba support act is one that would bring chuckles to Real Madrid fans, and many who watch Spanish football.
