The manager of IFK Norrköping Jens Gustafsson has told the Swedish media he wanted to sign West Ham United midfielder Sead Haksabanovic on a permanent deal, but the Hammers would only loan the youngster.
Today it was confirmed the Swede will join IFK on an 18 month loan deal.
Sydsvenskan have reported on comments Gustafsson made today when quizzed about signing the West Ham youngster outright: “West Ham have huge belief in Seda which meant we had to accept an 18 month loan. I think this is a player that many will enjoy when he plays. Sead is a creative and hardworking football player, who works for the team.”
Haksabanovic’s transfer to IFK comes off the back of a disappointing loan spell with Malaga. The 19 year old made just two league appearances in his six months with the Spanish club.
Following his return to West Ham there was speculation he could be heading to Swedish champions AIK but a move to the Stockholm club collapsed at the last minute.
The youngster has now been reunited with Gustafsson after their time together at Halmstad, when the player was coming through the ranks.
