Spending £12.6m on Rachid Ghezzal this summer, Claude Puel seemed to suggest the Algeria international would be a relatively important part of his plans going forward.
So far, that hasn’t been the case, as the 26-year-old has only played 27 minutes of first-team football, but there’s every chance the Leicester City manager is giving the forward time to adapt to his new surroundings and the new league.
Having seen his career stagnate following his move from Lyon to AS Monaco, Ghezzal was given the green light to leave this summer, as Leonardo Jardim had other players in mind going forward.
As well as seeing his club career come to a stop, the new Leicester man was pushed to one side by his then national team coach Rabah Madjer.
With an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia coming up on September 8th, there’s no doubt Ghezzal will be waiting by his phone, hoping to add to his tally of 13 caps.
