For a deal that looked as good as done early last week, Wahbi Khazri to Saint-Etienne sure is taking its time.

Last Tuesday, we relayed information from Le Progres that the Tunisia international had passed his medical with the Ligue 1 side ahead of his Sunderland exit, with the signature just around the corner.

Unfortunately for all involved, this transfer has yet to be made official, and, according to Manu Lonjon, a journalist for Yahoo! Sport, there’s a reason for that.

Before you panic, rest assured that the hold up won’t, or at least shouldn’t, affect the final outcome, as the Black Cats forward is still expected to be wearing Saint-Etienne’s green shirt next season.

However, talks are still ongoing between some of the parties involved (which ones isn’t specified), which is why we have yet to see the Sunderland man holding a scarf over his head/a shirt in front of him.

Lonjon states the transfer’s ‘finalisation’ is currently ongoing, suggesting it probably won’t be long now until the League One side get their money, and Saint-Etienne get their new star.
