Perhaps understandably, Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo is receiving some criticism in the Chile media. That’s not because he was especially poor during Chile’s World Cup qualifying campaign, although he certainly wasn’t especially good, but due to wider things around the group.

After Chile failed to qualify, Bravo’s wife took to social media and slammed certain members of the squad for their unprofessionalism, with it being thought Arturo Vidal was a main target.

Some in the Chile media feel this conflict within the squad won’t help anyone. Manchester City’s second choice is also a good target because of his repeated and needless battles with the Chilean media down the years, always ready to give them an earful.

It’s often felt that Bravo unleashes his anger on the Chile media, in a way he wouldn’t dare in England, despite, for example, receiving far more criticism here for his Manchester City displays.

La Tercera have been publishing articles questioning the goalkeeper, and have now asked fans if he should remain captain. In a Twitter poll, 67% have said yes, Bravo should keep the armband, which perhaps isn’t the response the Chilean newspaper were looking for.
