Arsenal could hand 16-year-old striker Chidozie Obi-Martin his debut in the coming weeks, with the club delighted with his development.

That’s according to Ekstra Bladet, who say sources have told them a first-team debut is ‘not unthinkable’ before the end of the season.

They report that the 16-year-old has been making waves in Arsenal’s U21 team and has already been a part of first-team training on six separate occasions under Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard is ‘perfectly aware’ of the youngster’s talents, what he can do and the fact he possesses a physical package that few people of his age can relate to.

He’s combined this with a series of impressive performances in the youth teams, with the newspaper saying he ‘impresses every time he plays’ against players older than he is.

This is one of the reasons why Arsenal have ‘enormous expectations’ for him moving forwards and it’s because of that he could be handed his first-team debut by Arteta before the end of the season.

Given Arsenal are in the middle of a title race that seems unlikely, unless the Gunners fall away as they did last season and that eases up the pressure.

Alternatively, perhaps he’s a name to keep an eye on for the final day of the season, should the title race be done before that point. Regardless, remember the name, because it seems his future at Arsenal is set to be a bright one.
