It definitely won’t be easy for Aston Villa to sign Julian Alvarez from River Plate.

Even though the Premier League side continue being linked to the Argentine striker, the competition for his transfer is only growing, now with strong claims about how much he’ll cost.

The latest update comes from TNT Sports, where journalist Sebastian Srur now claims that Milan are willing to spend €20m to sign the striker.

As written by the outlet, the Rossoneri are one of the clubs in a race which includes Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan as well.

With Alvarez seeming to be the next big talent to leave Argentina, he continues being one of the main topics in the local media. In an interview with La Nacion, it was recently Fiorentina director Nicolas Burdisso who claimed the player should be ready for a challenge in Europe.

“Perhaps Julián Álvarez is a possibility, we will see. He has been competing in the South American elite for two or three years,” he said.

The striker has 15 goals and 13 assists in 39 appearances for River Plate this season. Due to his appearances in the Copa Libertadores and international games, he should have no problems getting a work permit in case of an Aston Villa move.
