Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Nélson Semedo has a contract until June and has already been linked to Benfica.
The Portugal international’s contract situation hasn’t impacted his role on the pitch. He’s been a regular this season, playing 2,679 minutes from 32 games this season.
Friday’s edition of O Jogo claims Wolves have still not given up on retaining the right-back beyond the summer.
The Premier League club’s board are pleased with Semedo’s performances and view him as their key player. Wolves will make a ‘last-ditch attempt’ to keep him at Molineux by extending his contract.
It’s claimed the fullback could receive a renewal offer from Vítor Pereira’s side ‘very soon’.
Wolves are aware the 31-year-old is attracting interest from several clubs, including the Eagles, who have already positioned themselves to sign him. The possibility of taking him for free in the upcoming window makes him an attractive option in the market.
O Jogo have found out the fullback is open to changing clubs and this makes it difficult to extend his contract.
Wolves have a good relationship with Semedo and his camp. Therefore, the ‘outcome will always be on good terms’, irrespective of whether he decides to stay or leave.
