The way some reports around Fabio Silva present the player’s season at UD Las Palmas, you’d think the Spanish club would have qualified for Europe with the Wolves owned player dragging them to rarely seen glories.

Instead, the Canary Islands side is set to finish 19th out of 20 in La Liga and therefore face relegation to the Segunda Division. That is not to say that Fabio Silva didn’t do well.

The 22-year-old scored 10 goals, including two penalties, and was joint 16th top scorer in La Liga. It is easily the youngster’s best loan move away from Wolves and what he’ll be hoping for is interest elsewhere in Spain.

Instead, right now he’s getting increased interest from German clubs, with Eintracht Frankfurt the latest added to the mix, along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg. How much of that is true remains to be seen.

None of that is too shocking, it’s what Marca says next which raises an eyebrow: ‘Wolverhampton have his rights, but those in England already know his return is practically a utopia. His great season on the island, in which he was the team’s best player, scoring 10 goals, has boosted his reputation.’

Marca make it sound like Fabio Silva has outgrown Wolves, which feels a reaction way over the top to reality. Indeed, it’s likelier the Premier League club would rather get whatever they can this summer, boosted by his best loan yet.
