Flamengo’s Evertton Araújo is on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ transfer agenda for the summer window.
That’s according to Coluna do Fla, who state Vítor Pereira is leading Wolves’ interest in the midfielder.
The English club have done business with Flamengo when they signed João Gomes in January 2023.
Gomes, 24, has impressed and managed to attract interest from the Premier League. The report points out Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all planning to make approaches for the Wolves player after this season.
Faced with the possibility of losing the Brazil international, Wolves have already identified his compatriot as a candidate to replace him. The report explains the English club are ‘probing’ Araújo.
Pereira was at Flamengo for over three months in 2023 and during his time with them, he came across Araújo. In fact, the 22-year-old midfielder made his first team debut under the current Wolves manager.
The 56-year-old recommended a few players, including Araújo, after he arrived in England in December. Since then, the Premier League club have been monitoring the Brazilian.
Atlético Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen tried to sign the player before he extended the contract in December.
Araújo’s contract lasts until December 2028 and has a €40m release clause. Even though it’s stated Wolves would have to pay this to take him away from Flamengo, the figure feels on the high side.
It’s not made clear whether Wolves will consider a move for Araújo if Gomes were to stay at Molineux.
