Wolverhampton Wanderers fullback Nelson Semedo may be in Portugal’s squad for the Euro 2024, but is apparently still not ready for the upcoming challenges.
According to O Jogo, the player trained separately on Sunday, just taking a run around the pitch.
The story claims that Portugal manager Roberto Martinez is now ‘rooting’ for Semedo to be in shape for the friendly against Finland on Tuesday.
The fullback is believed to be in a ‘recovery process’, with the national team giving no more details about his injury situation.
Semedo took part in Wolves’ final game of the season against Liverpool, and ended up getting a red card in the first half.
The player is set to fight against Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot for the right-back position in this tournament.
Semedo managed to have a solid season at Wolves, making 41 appearances and only missing the match day squad for two Premier League games.
O Jogo’s story makes it sound like Martinez was ready to give him a chance to prove himself in this friendly against Finland, so he’ll hope he gets the chance.
