Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to announce the signing of Fer López ‘in the coming hours’ if nothing goes wrong at the last minute.

That’s according to Atlántico, who say the 21-year-old will complete his move to Wolves soon after already passing his medical.

They say the midfielder completed his move to Wolves yesterday after passing a medical with the Premier League side.

The €25m transfer is now pending official confirmation, but he is set to sign on at Molineux for the next five years.

Various sources say that the deal will be worth around €25m. €23m of that will be fixed terms and then another two in variables. The payment formula Wolves will use remains unknown though.

They’re paying more than López’s release clause in exchange for paying for the midfielder in instalments. The deal could also be like the one for striker Jorge Strand Larsen, which was a loan deal and a mandatory purchase option.

In either case, López is considered to be part of the history of Celta now. His transfer is done, even though it has caused outrage among the club’s fan base.  They thought he was staying at the club for at least another year, but instead he’s been sold to the Premier League with the deal expected to be announced in the coming hours if all goes to plan.
