On Wednesday, De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij reported Norwich City are in pole position to sign Ajax’s Jakov Medić this summer.

Later that day, claims from the British media stated West Bromwich Albion are planning to hijack the Cherries’ move for the 26-year-old.

Norwich City have now made advances in this operation, according to De Telegraaf.

The Croatian spent this season on loan at VfL Bochum and played 23 games for them. He attracted interest from some clubs from lower half of the Bundesliga and a few from the Championship.

De Telegraaf state Medić’s preference is to join Norwich City this summer. The English club reached an agreement with the Eredivisie side for €2.5m plus a maximum of €500,000 as bonuses and Ajax will be entitled to receive a percentage of a future sale.

The Amsterdam club have qualified for the Champions League, and with this, Medić will see his salary increase. The report claims this is the reason why Ajax are pushing for his sale.

With the two clubs reaching an agreement, Medić has to undergo medical tests. Once he clears this, Norwich City can make his signing official.
