Leeds United are in the mix to sign Stade Rennais’ Wilson Samaké this summer, according to Africa Foot.
The 21-year-old has been with the Ligue 1 club’s academy and played for their U19s and B team so far. He’s yet to make his first team debut and had a short spell on loan at LB Châteauroux this season.
Samaké was part of the Mali squad at last month’s Toulon tournament in France and his performances have caught several clubs’ attention, including Leeds.
The Whites have followed the striker closely in this tournament and the report states they are interested in tabling a bid of around €1m.
As well as Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Burnley, Newcastle United, Paris FC, Fiorentina, FC Lorient and Valencia are also interested in him. The Clarets intend to make a contractual offer to the youngster.
Daniel Farke’s side are keen and seem to be ahead of these clubs in the transfer race.
Africa Foot states Leeds are ‘currently engaged in intense negotiations’ to bring Samaké to Elland Road. They further add the French-born attacker could leave Stade Rennais this summer.
If Leeds are successful, it needs to be seen whether Samaké will initially be part of Farke’s squad or join their youth team.
