Algeria manager Vladimir Petković called up Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Aït-Nouri for September’s international break.
The Greens will face Equatorial Guinea and Liberia in AFCON qualifiers. The left-back is with the national team camp, but there are concerns over his availability for these two fixtures.
That’s at least what La Gazette du Fennec are reporting, and they state the Wolves player arrived with a calf injury.
It’s claimed the Algeria medical staff are ‘studying the possibility’ of releasing the 23-year-old from the national team squad. If that happens, it’ll be a blow for Vladimir Petković.
La Gazette du Fennec add the fullback ‘shouldn’t be available anytime soon’. It’s not clear from this whether he’ll miss this month’s international break or Aït-Nouri will spend a long spell on the sidelines.
Gary O’Neil has included the defender in the starting lineup in all four games this season. He came off in the 60th minute in Wolves’ 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
The English club will face Brighton & Hove Albion after the international break. O’Neil and Wolves would be hoping Aït-Nouri’s injury isn’t serious, and he’s available for selection.
