Nico Elvedi continues to be linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers as his future at Borussia Mönchengladbach remains uncertain.
The defender is in his final year of contract and is ‘not averse’ to changing clubs this summer.
That’s according to Saturday’s Rheinische Post, who say Wolves are interested in securing his services.
It’s said the ‘negotiations are ongoing’ between the Premier League side and the German club over a deal.
As of Friday afternoon, the newspaper explains that the two clubs are ‘still a long way apart’ from reaching an agreement for the 26-year-old.
There’s no mention of the figures requested by the Bundesliga side or what Wolves are willing to offer for the centre-back.
Therefore, the Switzerland international continues to train with his club and was set to be part of the Borussia Mönchengladbach squad to face Saarbrücken in a friendly fixture on Saturday.
On Friday, Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Nils Schmadtke admitted the player’s future is open and didn’t rule out a move for him in this window.
Elvedi has been at the German club since 2015 and made 34 appearances last season.
