Wolverhampton Wanderers have asked about Sporting’s Manuel Ugarte, according to a report.
The Uruguay international has featured 34 times in all competitions this season and his impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed.
According to Sport, Wolves are one of the teams ‘most interested’ in signing the defensive midfielder in the summer.
The 21-year-old could replace Rúben Neves at Molineux if the Portuguese midfielder were to be sold after this season.
Wolves see the South American as a ‘fully guaranteed replacement’ for Neves, while they are also aware it will be hard negotiating a deal with the Lions for him.
Sport mention Julen Lopetegui’s side in a report that states Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered him to Barcelona, if Sergio Busquets leaves the Camp Nou. The Spaniard has a contract until June and there will be more clarity on his future later this month.
Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi is the ideal midfield target for the Blaugrana but the high cost of the operation has seen the latter look at other alternatives. This is where the Sporting star could be an option after he was proposed by Mendes to replace Busquets.
