According to a claim in the Turkish media, Trabzonspor are ready to step up their pursuit for Ipswich Town defender Axel Tuanzebe.
There have been reports in the Turkish media this week that Trabzonspor are working on a deal for Tuanzebe and are looking to sign him on a free transfer next month when his contract expires.
Ipswich Town have the option to extend his current deal for another year, but with relegation to the English second tier they may not exercise this.
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan this week confirmed they were in talks to sign the former Manchester United defender and that he was a player liked by the coaching staff.
Milliyet report on the latest developments and they state Trabzonspor want Tuanzebe to undergo a thorough medical before they get into the latter stages of negotiations.
The Super Lig side are said to be concerned about the 27-year-old’s injury record and want to be as assured as possible before they make a final decision.
Tuanzebe made just 20 Premier League starts last season, scoring one goal.
