Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raúl Jiménez has emerged as a ‘surprise’ target for Beşiktaş in the winter market, according to Fotospor.
The Istanbul club are in the market for a new striker after reaching an agreement with Wout Weghorst to terminate his contract. He was on a season-long loan deal from Burnley and is wanted by Manchester United.
Weghorst has managed 10 goals and four assists from 21 matches and the Black Eagles are now looking for a striker to replace the Dutchman. The last name they ‘examined’ was that of the Wolves frontman.
The Mexico international missed several months of this season due to injury and has been restricted to a substitute role in the league since the World Cup.
Despite his failure to shine for Wolves, the 31-year-old would be ‘suitable’ for the system employed by the Black Eagles manager, Şenol Güneş.
Jiménez’s former teammate, Romain Saïss, joined the Turkish club last summer. Fotospor are of the belief the defender’s presence at Güneş’ side would help the current Wolves player to adapt quickly, if he were to join Beşiktaş in January.
