Still searching for a new centre-back, West Ham are focusing on Kurt Zouma.
The French defender is currently at Chelsea, but Thomas Tuchel isn’t that big of a fan of his, meaning an exit this summer was anticipated.
Tottenham were after him for a while, but it appears it’s only the Hammers left in the race, according to TF1 in France.
Their journalist, Julien Maynard, explains that Spurs ‘are no longer in the race’ for the centre-back, while ‘talks are advancing with West Ham’.
Tottenham n’est plus dans la course pour Kurt Zouma.
Les discussions avancent avec West Ham, qui souhaite finaliser le deal très rapidement. Pas d’accord pour le moment, mais les positions de chacun ne sont plus très éloignées. #Mercato— Julien Maynard (@JulienMaynard) August 24, 2021
Furthermore, David Moyes’ side ‘want to finalise the deal very quickly’.
As things stand, ‘there is no agreement for now, but the positions of each party are no longer far apart’.
This suggests some progress has been made and there is renewed hope that Zouma will leave Chelsea before the end of the transfer window and complete his inter-city transfer before the end of the window.
