Leicester City have made an attempt to sign Club América’s Emilio Lara this summer.
That’s according to Mexican journalist Martín del Palacio, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover Leicester’s interest in the 23-year-old.
Lara graduated from the Mexican club’s academy and made his way into their senior team in 2021. Last summer, he was allowed to join another Mexican side, Club Necaxa, on loan.
Leicester wanted to add the right-back to their squad and even made a loan offer. Martín del Palacio says a move to the King Power Stadium would have been a ‘great opportunity’ for Lara.
He doesn’t provide the details of the Foxes’ proposal, and it won’t matter because Club América have rejected it. Instead, they decided to send him back on loan to Necaxa and this is ‘bad news’ for Leicester.
On July 2nd, Necaxa announced that his temporary stay has been extended for another year.
According to the journalist, one of the reasons why Club América favoured their Mexican counterpart over Leicester because Necaxa will renew the broadcasting rights with Televisa. This is important because Club América are owned by Televisa.
