West Ham United star Crysencio Summerville has revealed he has a whole team of people working behind him in a ‘Team Summerville’.

Voetbal Primeur report comments from the forward today, from an interview with Voetbal International this week.

‘Team Summerville’

The 24-year-old is currently the man in the spotlight in the Netherlands after earning a call up to Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad for the World Cup.

It’s the first time he’s earned a call up to the senior international squad, and he recently made his debut in the 1-0 loss to Algeria. He then added a second appearance, and an assist, in the 2-1 win over Uzbekistan on Monday.

It also means that the West Ham man is now being asked about everything, and that’s the case with Voetbal International. They want to know about the team that the forward has assembled behind him, who cover issues like nutrition, media and physiotherapy.

“Ha, Team Summerville, what a great term, I’ll keep that one,” he said when asked about them.

“I do indeed work with specialists in various fields. I have my own physiotherapist, business advisors, a media team, a chef. All people who ensure that I can fully focus on football and am optimally prepared.

“Nutrition is so important for a top athlete. When I started playing football at West Ham, I hired him. Three days a week, he is in our kitchen at home. For example, the chef prepares recovery meals and shakes for me after matches.

“The entire menu is tailored to what my body needs at each stage of the week.”

Focus on progression

For the forward, it’s a focus on becoming the best player that he possible can. This season has been something of a breakout one for him in the Premier League, particularly after the turn of the year.

He is already being linked with a big money move this summer. That’s definitely the case following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship. And he certainly has his eyes on progression, always.

“I want to seize every opportunity that can help me become an ever-better player,” he added.

“During my time at Leeds, I also had someone on my team with whom I analysed match footage. At West Ham, I did that with specialists from the club. That way, I am working on my development in all areas.”
