Last week, La Nuova Sardegna reported Cagliari were trying to build an auction for striker Roberto Piccoli, who is of interest to West Ham.
The Sardinian outlet noted interest from Como, suggesting the Hammers would need to hurry if they didn’t want to miss out.
More pressure is applied on West Ham by today’s Corriere dello Sport.
The newspaper reports that while Graham Potter’s side have more financial resources than Como, Cagliari want Piccoli’s sale to happen as quickly as possible.
They want a fee of around €25m to €30m to offload the 24-year-old but time could be running out for West Ham.
That’s because Cagliari will only sell Piccoli before the 15th of August as they want to keep a Serie A proven squad together for the upcoming campaign under new manager Fabio Pisacane.
This feels like another attempt from the Italian press to make sure that the Sardinian side earn as much as they can from Piccoli’s transfer. They signed the player permanently from Atalanta in June, for €12m, and want to make a quick profit.
