David Raya has emerged as a key player for Arsenal this season and has been vital to their performances in the campaign so far.
His season was defined by the penalty save he made against Atalanta in the Champions League, denying Matteo Retegui from the spot.
He’s grown in stature, with Aaron Ramsdale having already departed the club in the summer.
As a result of Raya’s rise over the last season or so, he’s also come into contention for the Spanish national team and spoke to Radio Marca about multiple things regarding his career right now.
When asked to compare Mikel Arteta and Luis Enrique, he made it clear the Arsenal manager has something of a temper: “I think they are on par. When they get angry, they both have character.
The Arsenal goalkeeper said Iker Casillas is his role model and when asked about his relationship with teammates, the Spaniard explained: “I have always had a very good relationship with my teammates, especially with the goalkeepers. We are a team within the team and we all perform better if we have a good relationship.”
The 29-year-old played in Spain’s two games in the last international break and is likely going to feature in the team’s next two clashes as well.
That is a fair indicator of how far he has come in the last few months and Arsenal fans will hope he goes further, as they look to win the title this time around.
