Over the past few weeks, the Italian media have talked about Everton’s desire to sign Juventus’ Arthur Melo this summer.

A week ago, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported Como have joined Everton in the chase for the midfielder. He also said the Toffees would have better financial strength than the newly promoted Serie A side.

The Brazilian returned to the Turin club after a season-long loan spell at Fiorentina, who can’t afford to cover his wages in the longer term.

Arthur has no future at Juve and his agent is looking for a new club in this window. The potential negotiations have been made difficult by the player’s high salary, according to La Stampa, relayed by Il BiancoNero.

The website’s title says Everton are a potential destination for the 27-year-old, yet there doesn’t appear to be anything close.

Como’s interest is highlighted, however, they made no progress in their negotiations with Juve. Therefore, it’s suggested there’s only one track for the South American and that leads to the Merseyside club.

That’s highly questionable and it feels more out of hope than expectation.

The basis for any Everton move would be a loan similar to the one he had at Fiorentina last season. Maybe if they could get advantageous terms it could be a consideration.
