Tottenham would not put any obstacles in the way of Timo Werner should he look to leave in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Kicker, who say Tottenham will let the German end his loan deal if there is an opportunity to do so.
The newspaper states that while Tottenham fans appreciate Werner’s attitude, tactical discipline and willingness to work defensively that doesn’t mean he’ll be getting increased chances in the first team.
The reality is that Werner is nothing more than a ‘joker’ and it would require a major crisis with injuries or suspensions for him to get an extended run in the first team.
Ange Postecoglou has continued to back the forward, but it is unlikely that Tottenham would put any obstacles in his way if a better option arises. RB Leipzig would also sanction another loan deal or a sale if they could find either.
Now, this is a direct contradiction to a recent report from SportBILD, which stated Werner wouldn’t be going anywhere in the coming months despite his struggles.
That was part of a report that insisted he was still in with a shot of featuring for the German national team despite his lack of minutes. Realistically, though, that isn’t the case and Kicker seem to believe that an exit from Tottenham could be on the cards.
