Fabio Paratici’s arrival at Tottenham could have put them in the race for highly-rated Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say that Paratici ‘knows the dynamics of a potential deal’ to beat both Chelsea and Manchester City to his signature.
Locatelli is one of the highest-rated young players in Italy, and a host of clubs around Europe, led by Juventus, are chasing his signature this summer.
They are yet to get a deal over the line, though, and Gazzetta say there is now a ‘concrete risk’ that they could be drawn into an auction for Locatelli’s signature.
Now Tottenham can be added to the growing list of admirers, with Paratici ‘involved in the matter’.
It’s explained that, like with Gianluigi Donnarumma, he ‘knows the dynamics of the potential deal’, and it’s felt he could ‘raise the bid’ for Tottenham.
The nature of that potential bid isn’t mentioned, but it’s made clear that Locatelli would need some convincing.
He currently ‘waits calmly’ to see what happens with his future. He is ‘ready for the big jump’, and although Juventus are his first choice, he would not deny himself the opportunity of a move abroad.
That is something Chelsea and Manchester City can offer but particularly Tottenham, who have Paratici working to pull off what would be a major coup.
