Tottenham have an agreement in place with AC Milan for Fikayo Tomori but need to convince him of the move.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the two sides have agreed a €26.5m deal for the centre back.

The newspaper reports that the defender wants to stay with Milan despite the clubs reaching an agreement for his transfer. There are still 48 hours to work out a deal but ‘the pessimism is clear’ at this point.

Tomori told Milan this morning that he has no intention of going to Tottenham. This was bad news for both sides as it also presents a ‘significant obstacle’ to the Italian side’s plans for the end of the window.

They had an agreement with Tottenham and have ‘already virtually shaken hands’ with their Premier League counterparts. The contracts are even ready to be signed, and Milan are looking for replacements.

All that is missing is Tomori’s approval. He wants to stay in Milan and will be available for the derby with Inter Milan on Sunday. The decision has caught everyone by surprise as he has found himself out of the picture this season.

A return to the Premier League to relaunch himself would have been ‘logical’ but the defender has instead decided to turn down the approach from Tottenham.

There is time for that to change and Gazzetta say that is possible but for now it’s pessimism abound.
