Earlier today, we covered a story about where Tottenham were at in their pursuit of Nicolo Zaniolo, where it was once again reiterated that Spurs were his favourite destination.
Milan are also trying to get in the mix for his signing, but it appears they will have to be extra convincing if they are to stand a chance.
A lot could come down to whether Tottenham cough up the required money and transfer package, as it’s been made clear time and time again that Roma want the money either now or guaranteed in the summer regardless of what happens.
That means no clauses resting on whether Antonio Conte manages to qualify his team in the Champions League or not.
The problem is, Fabio Paratici, who appears to be working on both this deal and the one for Pedro Porro, is refusing to improve on his first offer.
That’s what Gazzetta dello Sport are saying, stating that ‘yesterday morning’, there was a phone call between the Tottenham transfer chief and Zaniolo’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, where it was made clear that Spurs will ‘not budge from the previous conditions’.
They are willing to offer more than Milan, with €30m, but the clauses to trigger that money are ‘more complex’, including the aforementioned Champions League qualification and ‘about a minimum of a dozen appearances’.
That’s not going to cut it for the time being, and it seems we could be facing another Porro situation if Paratici, currently under scrutiny following what’s happened at Juventus, doesn’t up the offer to Roma.
