Tottenham can sign centre-back Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen for €18m this summer but have to activate his release clause by the beginning of July.
That’s according to BILD, who say Tottenham are looking for defensive reinforcements this summer and Tah is one those ‘fitting the profile’.
The newspaper explains that Tah wants to leave Leverkusen this summer and is ‘pushing for a change’ after eight years at the club.
His preferred destination is England, and he wants to go to the Premier League, that is why he has been receiving advice from super-agent Pini Zahavi for six months. He is seen as an expert in transfers to England.
Any deal is an easy one to get done as the defender has a release clause worth €18m but that ‘must be triggered by the beginning of July’ otherwise his price becomes freely negotiable.
Tottenham are one of those who could be interested as they looking for defensive reinforcements this summer after struggling in that area this season.
Any decision on Tah, or any other potential signing, will have to wait, though, with Daniel Levy yet to appoint a new director of football or manager, both of which will be crucial to deciding future transfer business.
