Lautaro Martínez and Romelu Lukaku were leading Inter Milan’s attack under Antonio Conte in their title winning campaign last season. The latter two left the San Siro last summer.

Conte returned to management when Tottenham Hotspur appointed him as their manager in November 2021.

On Monday, we relayed news from Italy that Conte has identified Martínez and Stefan de Vrij as two summer targets for the north London club. It was also stated Fabio Paratici will ‘try to please’ the Nerazzurri by tabling an offer of around €90-100m for the duo.

Later that day, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Spurs are ‘at work in a concrete way’ to sign the Inter forward.

The Argentine international, who has 11 goals and two assists in 23 Serie A matches, has not scored a goal in the league in this calendar year.

In order to bolster the San Siro club’s attack, they have identified Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca as their main target. Calciomercato.it explained yesterday that Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is also an option for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Claims made by Calciomercato.it are relayed by InterLive.it, who then go on to provide a short update on Martínez.

It’s claimed the 24-year-old is the ‘number one suspect’ to leave the Italian champions in the next window. There are several clubs following the South American with ‘particular attention’, including Tottenham.

With Spurs in the picture for the attacker, the possibility of Martínez leaving Inter can only give hope to the Premier League side to sign Conte’s target.
