Having managed to keep Harry Kane at Tottenham this summer, there was hope that the arrival of Antonio Conte could convince the England international to remain in London in the long run.

Scoring two goals against Manchester City at the weekend, the 28-year-old showed exactly why Pep Guardiola was so intent on signing him last year, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Spaniard try once more once the current campaign comes to an end.

Kane’s departure would rock Tottenham to its core, such is his importance to the club, meaning that an exit would require an adequate replacement, which is where Lautaro Martinez comes in.

The Argentine was already a reported target last summer when there was first talk of the Englishman leaving, and TuttoMercatoWeb claim the striker is still on Fabio Paratici’s list to this day.

The website explain Inter and Martinez ‘could say goodbye at the end of the season’, with the striker’s profile ‘very popular in England’.

It’s made clear that Conte ‘would gladly hug him again after having coached him at Inter’, and Spurs are reportedly ‘at work in a concrete way’ to get their man in the summer.

Whether they do remains to be seen, but any transfer for the 24-year-old would be a very expensive one.
