Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus was obviously disappointed with the Gunners’ draw against West Ham United at the weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s side opened a 2-0 score and saw the Hammers equalising it, just like it had already happened against Liverpool a week before.
After the match against West Ham, Gabriel Jesus was interviewed by ESPN Brasil, and spoke to journalist Natalie Gedra about Arsenal’s failure in guaranteeing those results.
“We can’t look at other teams and want them to lose. First we have to do our thing,” Gabriel Jesus told ESPN Brasil.
“These last two games were not the way we would have liked. The score was in our favour and we ended up not taking advantage of it. Playing with the team that are City, without the pressure to win, as they have won in recent years, obviously it will be more comfortable for them. Whoever is first is the one who will always be hunted.
“The pressure is all on our side, but the we can’t feel that. We have to go back to playing, to be happy on the field again, like last week in the first 30 minutes, today in the first 20, but games are for 90 minutes. We have to stay focused throughout the whole game.”
“The way we stop attacking in these last two games, we may be a little anxious, wanting to resolve it soon. But now it’s time to focus again, see what we can improve.”
With seven Premier League fixtures left, Arsenal currently prepare to play Southampton on Friday. The Gunners are currently only four points above Manchester City.
Their schedule until the end of the season doesn’t get any easy, as they still play Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Gabriel Jesus, meanwhile, continues to show a great form since the return from his knee injury which sidelined him for so long.
The Brazilian had already scored a brace against Leeds United and a goal in the draw against Liverpool, and now he opened the score against West Ham, reaching his ninth goal of the season.
