Swansea City forward Žan Vipotnik has told the Slovenian media there has been interest from Premier League clubs.

The 24-year-old signed for the Welsh club in 2024 from Bordeaux. He’s impressed during his time at the Liberty Stadium.

Speaking to Ekipa24, Vipotnik was asked about his ambitions to play in the English top flight and whether there’s been the opportunity.

The Swansea City player revealed discussions have taken place with a Premier League side, but not at an advanced stage.

Vipotnik said his focus is now on the Swans getting promotion via the play offs and he isn’t thinking about a move.

“There were talks, but they didn’t get to the final stage. There’s only so much I can say. In the end I stayed. Now we’re fighting for the playoffs, we’re close, we’re going game by game and in just a few rounds it will be clear whether we can aim for the playoffs or not,” said the Slovenia international.

Swansea City suits Vipotnik

Vipotnik was also asked about his time at Swansea City and extending his contract. He said he feels settled at the club and this was a reason he wanted to renew his deal.

“That’s what I wanted, it’s great. I feel really good here, maybe the weather pleases me, although it’s not the best. (laughs) I extended my contract for another four years and a few months. Everything suits me, from the coach and the team to the city itself. Everything is at the highest level, the decision to extend my stay was not difficult,” said the centre forward.

The Welsh club announced the extension last week, with the Championship side clearly pleased to do so.

‘Swansea City is delighted to announce striker Zan Vipotnik has signed a new contract with the club.

‘The 24-year-old, who celebrated his birthday earlier this week, has put pen to paper on a deal through to the summer of 2030.

‘The agreement of new terms comes on the back of an outstanding campaign for the Slovenian forward, and is a deserved reward after scoring 19 goals in all competitions to date during the 2025-26 season.

‘Seventeen of those goals have come in the Championship and he remains the division’s top goalscorer heading into the final weeks of the season.’

Forward commits to Swansea City

The Slovenian has been in impressive form for Swansea City this season, scoring 17 goals in 37 Championship games. He made a slow start to this time at the club, with just seven league goals last season.
